Ancient Mahadev Shiva Mandir at Tambdi Surla Sattari Valpoi Goa

Brief History and details with Photos

Brief History
The Mahadev Shiv Temple located at Tambdi Surla Sattari Valpoi Goa is a live specimen left out of Kadamba -Yadava Architecture. The temple has been built in purely Basalt Stone and is dated before 13th century. The temple has ben preserved and available in Goa.The site is very scenic, pleasant and soul refreshing with abode of mystical powers.
The temple was built by Kadamba Yadavas. The Kadamba Yadavas ruled the satate of Goa from their capital at Chadrapure now named as Chandore located near Madgoa. Accessible both by road and rail and almost 40 Km from Goa Airport. The ruins of the fort and other building of that time are seen at Chandore, very few of these are left out now as majority have been devastated by subsequent Muslim and Purtgees rulers. The small township of Chandore now falls in Madgoa Taluka. The remains of the Kadamba Yadavas fort are also still preserved and available there. Another temple of Shiv named as Bhutnath Chandereshwar built by Kadmbas Yadavs is also located in the vicinity.
Location and Accessibility
It is located at a distance of 66 Kms from Mumugoa port and Dabolim Airport at Sattari Valpoi. The place is about 40 to 45 Kms from Madgoa and accesible by and rail.
Places of Interest Near by
I visited the place and liked its silent ambience in the jungles of Sattari Valpoi.
The Mahavir Centuri and Dhud Sagar falls are also centre attraction in the vicinity.
Datails of the Temple
It is a small but beautifully crafted shrine of God Lord Shiva. The shiv Linga is placed in the temple grabha and the front assembly hall in crafted on stone pillars, It is worth visiting place gives a life time experience. The temple has been built in black Basalt stone. The structure is small and poorly preserved. Being there gives the divine filling and sense of fulfilment
